Save the date: : One year to go before the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships in Italy!

The countdown has begun: one year to go before the world’s best acrobatic gymnasts return live, arriving from five continents, with over 800 athletes and 45 countries ready to transform the Marche city into the world capital of acrobatics. All this will take place at the 30th Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships (Senior), scheduled from 24 to 27 September 2026 at the Vitrifrigo Arena in Pesaro.

From 17 to 27 September 2026, Pesaro will become the capital of acrobatic gymnastics, hosting for the very first time in Italy the FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships, at the prestigious Vitrifrigo Arena.

A double international stage

AcroPesaro 2026 will bring two major events to Italy:

  • 17–20 September 2026 — FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics Junior World Championships & FIG World Youth Competition
  • 24–27 September 2026 — 30th FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics Senior World Championships

Behind the Dream: The Makers Making It Happen

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), the Italian Gymnastics Federation (FGI), the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), coaches, and a passionate community are working together to make Pesaro the world capital of Acrobatic Gymnastics in 2026.

Andrea Facci, President of the Italian Gymnastics Federation (FGI), stated:

“It is with great pride and a strong sense of responsibility that we announce, for the very first time, the arrival in Italy of the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships — the pinnacle of this extraordinary discipline. Pesaro, already home to top-level events, confirms itself as a city capable of hosting major international competitions with enthusiasm and professionalism. The Vitrifrigo Arena will become the stage where the core values of acrobatic gymnastics — teamwork, precision, strength, harmony, and mutual trust — will shine. These universal values will inspire the audience in the arena and captivate viewers worldwide. We will work side by side to ensure not only the technical success of the event but also an unforgettable experience for all participants — a true celebration of Italian excellence.”

Italy on the rise

Among the leading teams will be Italy, which in recent years has made huge strides, as demonstrated by junior world and European titles, as well as its consistent presence in the finals of World Cups, World Championships, and European Championships at senior level.

One example is the mixed pair Edoardo Ferraris and Arianna Sofia Lucà, junior world champions in 2024 with an outstanding combined routine, after already winning the 2023 European dynamic title, along with silver in static and all-around.

At the 2025 Junior European Championships in Luxembourg, the women’s pair Sofia D’Errico and Camilla Poerio won three bronze medals — dynamic, static, and all-around — bringing pride and visibility to Italian acrobatics.

Also rising is the senior women’s group formed by Alessandra Scarabottolo, Elisa Machieraldo, and Elisa Marelli (later replaced by Gaia We Lisco). After breaking into the top six at major international events, they went on to place fourth in the World Cup final in Burgas.

“Exactly one year before the start of this adventure, we are fully aware of our potential and of the level of perfection and artistry we must — and intend to — achieve in order to compete with the best and seek new confirmations. We are a united group, driven by passion and expertise, eager to deliver a great show both organizationally and in performance; proud to compete for our country, in our country,” commented Erica Loiacono, National Technical Director and Fabio Gaggioli, Sportive Director..

Looking ahead: new challenges to embrace

Alongside the competitions, the Organizing Committee is preparing innovative initiatives with schools, universities, and local artistic groups. These projects will be unveiled in the coming months and will further strengthen community involvement on the road to AcroPesaro 2026.

This commitment is shared by SSD PesaroGym 2019 and Esatourgroup, organizers of the event in collaboration with FGI and FIG. As highlighted by Marco Cadeddu, representing Esatourgroup:
“We are thrilled to bring acrobatic gymnastics back to Pesaro — this time with the World Championships. It is a significant recognition for the entire organizing team and for the city, which has already proven its ability to host international events with great efficiency. It will be a true celebration of sport, where beauty, precision, and spectacle will meet the warmth of our audience. This achievement is the result of a bond of trust built over time: from the two European Championships — in aerobics and in acrobatics — held during the pandemic, to the success of the 2024 Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships. Now the challenge is to raise the bar even higher with the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships.”

Towards AcroPesaro 2026: a dream that unites

With athletes, delegations, institutions, volunteers, and citizens, AcroPesaro 2026 will be much more than a sporting competition: it will be a collective journey towards a shared dream.
The countdown has begun: a new acrobatic world is about to rise in Pesaro.
